1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Carrick Marine ("we," "us," or "our"), located in Green Cove Springs, Florida, United States, collects, uses, and discloses information when you use the Carrick Marine mobile application (the "App") and any related services. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
This Policy applies to information processed in connection with the App. It does not apply to third-party websites, services, or applications that may be linked from within the App, which are governed by their own privacy notices.
This Privacy Policy supplements, and should be read together with, our Terms of Service (Version 2025.06.01, effective June 1, 2025), which govern your overall use of the App. In the event of a conflict between this Policy and the Terms of Service with respect to the handling of personal information, this Policy controls.
2. Personal information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Account information — name, email address, and a hashed password when you register or sign in.
- Vessel and operational data — vessels, runbooks, checklists, and inventory items you create in the App.
- Communications — content of any messages you send us (support requests, feedback, bug reports).
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Location data — GPS coordinates used by the anchor alarm to detect drift. Location is read while the App is in use and, with your permission, in the background while the anchor alarm is armed.
- Device and technical data — device model, operating-system version, App version, language, and time zone.
- Diagnostics and crash reports — non-identifying error and performance data used to diagnose problems and improve reliability.
2.3 Information from third parties
We may receive limited information from third-party services we rely on (for example, authentication providers or push-notification gateways) to enable App features.
3. How we use your personal information
- To provide core App features, including the anchor alarm, runbooks, vessel records, and inventory tracking.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To sync your data between your device and our servers.
- To send transactional notifications (for example, alarm alerts).
- To diagnose problems, monitor performance, and improve the App.
- To communicate with you about important updates, security notices, or changes to this Policy.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
The App is a native mobile application and does not use browser cookies in the traditional sense. We do use the following on-device storage and identifiers to operate the App:
- Secure storage for your authentication tokens, so you do not have to sign in on every launch.
- Local app storage for offline data (such as cached vessels, runbooks, and inventory).
- Device identifiers issued by Apple or Google to deliver push notifications.
You can clear local App data at any time by signing out, deleting your account from within the App, or uninstalling the App.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights with respect to your personal information:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion — request deletion of your personal information. You can delete your account at any time from within the App (Account → Delete Account).
- Restriction or objection — ask us to restrict or stop certain processing.
- Portability — request a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
- Complain — lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, see Section 12 — How to contact us.
7. How we protect your personal information
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS), secure storage of authentication tokens on your device, and access controls on our servers. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If we become aware of a security incident that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by applicable law.
8. How long we keep your personal information
We keep your account and App data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from within the App (Account → Delete Account), which removes your account and associated data from our systems.
Some records may be retained for a limited period after deletion to comply with legal, accounting, or operational requirements (for example, to defend against legal claims or to comply with tax law). Diagnostic and crash data is retained only for as long as needed to investigate and resolve issues.
9. Information about children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
10. Governing law and jurisdiction
Carrick Marine is based in Green Cove Springs, Florida, United States. Our collection and use of your personal information are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. By using the App, you expressly agree that no other laws or regulations shall be applied to your personal data, except where applicable mandatory data-protection laws of your place of residence grant you additional rights that cannot be waived by contract (see Section 6 — Your rights).
Any legal action or proceeding arising out of or relating to this Privacy Policy, or to our handling of your personal information, shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts serving Clay County, Florida, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
